Description

Jhumkas carry the memory of a festivity even before they are worn. This pair belongs firmly to the Rajasthani Kundan tradition, where flat-set glass stones are pressed into a lac base within a brass framework, their edges sealed by fine gold-toned foil to create that characteristic cold luminescence. The dominant tone here is a deep, saturated green, the colour of uncut emerald glass prized in Jaipur's older ateliers, set across the domed head of the jhumka in a pattern that suggests a blooming floral medallion. Below, the bell-shaped body opens into a cascade of coordinated bead drops and small freshwater pearls, each one threaded to move lightly with the wearer. The brass construction gives the piece an honest weight, approximately 49 grams, and its finished surfaces carry the warm, slightly antique glow of gold-toned plating worked by hand. For a Banarasi silk saree or a tissue-worked lehenga at a mehendi or engagement ceremony, these earrings bring exactly the right amount of joyful colour without competing with heavily embroidered textiles. They pair equally well with a deep-green or ivory anarkali for a family puja or a sangeet evening. Each jhumka measures roughly 7.4 cm in height and 2.5 cm in width, proportions that sit comfortably on most ear lobes through a standard post and push-back closure. The brass base keeps daily handling straightforward, and the free size fitting requires no adjustment.
