Description

There are evenings when brass remembers it was once worshipped. This choker set draws from the temple jewellery vocabulary of South India, where bold, close-fitted neckpieces have long carried the weight of devotion and celebration alike. Cast in golden-coloured brass, the choker sits high on the collarbone in the manner of a traditional Attigai, its surface likely worked into floral or deity-inspired relief motifs that catch light with the warmth only brass can offer. A suspended pearl drop completes the composition, the organic softness of the pearl reading as counterpoint to the structured metal above it. At two inches, roughly five centimetres, in height, the piece has genuine presence without overwhelming the neckline. Weighing one hundred and thirty-one grams, it carries the reassuring heft of honest metalwork, not the hollow lightness of costume confection. The golden finish evokes the tradition of Thanjavur and Nagercoil craftsmen, who have for generations shaped brass into ceremonial grandeur. Pair it with a silk Kanjivaram saree in deep jewel tones for a festive evening, allowing the gold warmth of the brass to echo the zari border. It works equally well draped over a structured handloom kurta in ivory or rust for a cultural event or wedding reception. The choker is offered in a single free size that suits most adult necklines and closes with a traditional fastening suited to daily or occasional wear. The brass finish requires only a soft dry cloth to retain its lustre through regular use.
