Description

There is a particular lightness that belongs only to pastels, and this bracelet carries it in every link. Inspired by the halo-set tennis bracelets that found their footing in the courts of old Rajasthani craftsmen long before they became a Western staple, this piece arranges multicolour pastel stones, soft rose, powder blue, mint and blush, each within a fine halo of gold-tone prongs, across a continuous line of identical settings. The brass base is finished in a warm gold tone that flatters the muted palette without competing with it. At seventeen grams, the bracelet has the satisfying presence of considered metalwork, closer in sensibility to the decorative spirit of Jaipur's gemstone-set jewellery than to anything mass-produced. The stones are set with a consistent hand, each surrounded by its own ring of tiny surrounding prongs, so the line of the piece is unbroken and even from clasp to clasp. Worn against a raw-silk kurta in ivory or champagne, it reads as an heirloom complement to a pearl set. At a Sunday brunch with a linen shift dress in sage or white, it introduces colour without insistence, exactly the register a pastel palette is made for. The bracelet measures 7.05 inches, approximately 17.9 centimetres, and is offered in a single free size that fits most wrists comfortably. The brass construction keeps it light through long wear, and the secure clasp means it moves through a full day without adjustment.
