Description

She arrives in silver, as she always has, arrayed in the full authority of her divine form. Weighing a substantial 156 grams, this necklace is a devotional object as much as it is an adornment. The central panel, measuring approximately 30.5 centimetres in height and 11.2 centimetres in width, depicts Goddess Durga in her sovereign aspect, rendered in sterling silver through the kind of repoussé and chasing traditions long practised by silversmiths across Bengal and Odisha, where the goddess is not a motif but a presence. The relief work captures the fine articulation of her crown, her multiple arms, and the leonine mount at her feet with a seriousness of intent that mass manufacture cannot replicate. Sterling silver lends the piece a cool, weighted lustre, ageing gracefully with wear and developing the soft patina that only genuine metal earns over time. Worn against an ivory or deep red silk Banarasi for Navratri puja, it becomes the centrepiece of a complete look. Equally, draped over a fine white cotton kurta for a cultural evening, it speaks without effort. Offered in a single free size with a standard necklace fit, the piece sits as a bold bib against the collarbone and chest. Sterling silver at this weight requires occasional polishing with a soft cloth to maintain its brightness, and the metal is robust enough to accompany both ceremonial occasions and considered everyday devotion.
