Description

There is a particular geometry to old Jaipur gold work, and this choker set carries that precision into every cell of its construction. The choker is built in Kundan technique, in which a base of brass is first shaped into repeating geometric panels and then each stone is set by packing pure wax or lac behind the cavity before a gold foil seats the gem flush against a refined bezel of worked metal. Here, that geometry is exact: angular modules arranged in a lattice that catches light differently at every angle. The earrings mirror the choker's language, repeating the same flat-faceted forms so that the set reads as a coherent whole rather than a pairing of convenience. Stones, rendered in warm opaque and semi-translucent tones, sit level with the polished surface. The brass foundation gives the set a satisfying weight and a warm undertone beneath the Kundan work. The complete set weighs 59 grams, a substantiality that announces itself without discomfort. Wear it over a raw-silk kurta in ivory or blush for a winter wedding lunch, or against a deep-toned Banarasi saree blouse on a festival evening where the geometric lines hold their own against elaborate weave. Free in size, the choker sits at the collarbone, requiring no adjustment for most necklines. The earring closures are conventional post or hook fittings appropriate for everyday confidence. Brass, properly kept, resists tarnish well; store away from moisture and the set will repay long attention.
