Description

There is something quietly architectural about a piece that turns geometry into ornament. Rooted in the folk-jewellery traditions of Rajasthan, these earrings are worked in brass silver alloy and finished with lacquer, a technique long favoured by artisans in Jaipur and Bikaner who seal colour into metal with the patience of miniature painters. The motif is geometric: clean angular forms arranged symmetrically, their surface inlaid with multicolour stones set flush against the lacquered ground. The effect recalls the tiled courtyards and jaali screens of haveli architecture, translated into something you can wear at the ear. Each earring measures approximately 1 inch in height by 1 inch in width (roughly 2.5 cm by 2.5 cm), with negligible depth, and the pair weighs a comfortable 15 grams in total. The brass core gives the alloy its warmth; the silver content keeps the finish bright and cool against the colour. Wear them with an ivory or indigo cotton kurta on an afternoon that calls for unhurried dressing, or pair them with a silk ikat blouse at a festive lunch where you want colour without noise. They read equally well against a bare neck and against layered gold chains. Free-size by nature, these earrings suit any ear without adjustment. The lacquer seal protects the colour from daily wear, and the shallow profile means they sit close and do not catch on fabric, making them as practical for a long workday as for a celebration.
