Description

There is a quiet geometry to celebration, and this piece knows it by heart. Rooted in the lacquerwork tradition that flourishes across Rajasthan, these square earrings carry the warm discipline of a craft practiced in the lanes of Jaipur and Bikaner, where colour is never accidental. Each piece is built on a brass silver alloy base, its flat geometric face filled with smooth lacquer in the vivid, layered manner that makes this technique so distinctive. Multicolour stones, set flush within the geometric grid, catch light the way old Meenakari surfaces do, and a beaded border runs along every edge in the manner of a frame that knows its painting deserves respect. The result is compact and considered: a 1.2 by 1.2 inch (approximately 3 by 3 cm) square that sits close to the ear, weighing a substantial 25 grams, with the confident presence of something made entirely by hand. Wear these with a raw silk kurta in ivory for a daytime gathering, where the multicolour stones become the only ornament the ensemble requires. For a mehendi or evening celebration, pair them with a printed chanderi or a mirror-work blouse and let the lacquer hold the room. The free-size stud or hook closure rests comfortably against most ear types, and the alloy base ensures durability across repeated wearing. The sealed lacquer surface asks only that you store these away from moisture, and they will hold their colour faithfully for years.
