Description

A wanderer's treasury, caught in silver and light. These long, swinging earrings draw from the spirit of the travelling jeweller's trunk: stones gathered from the breadth of the subcontinent, set together with the unhurried confidence of a silversmith who knows that variety, arranged well, becomes harmony. Peridot's pale grass-green, the warm amber of citrine, the blue-white shimmer of moonstone and the deep wine of garnet sit in sterling silver settings, each stone chosen for its distinct character rather than uniformity. The silhouette is generous and unabashedly decorative, cascading to a full two and a half inches, approximately six and a half centimetres, and weighing a substantial twenty grams. The finish is characteristic of artisan sterling work: slightly oxidised or brushed silver that gives each coloured stone its fullest voice without competing with it. Wear these with a loose block-printed kurta and raw silk trousers for an evening that is effortless without being careless. They are equally at home with a draped cotton sari at a literary evening or a gallery opening, where the movement of the stones catches available light with quiet drama. The earrings are free-sized at the closure, fitting standard pierced ears without adjustment. At twenty grams, the weight is present but not fatiguing for an evening's duration. Sterling silver worn regularly develops a gentle patina; a soft cloth is enough to restore its brightness between occasions.
