Description

There are flowers that bloom quietly, and then there are flowers that hold a room. This oversized floral stud carries the unhurried confidence of Rajasthani costume jewellery at its most considered. Cast in brass and finished to catch light without clamouring for it, the piece is built around a bold botanical silhouette that draws from the marigold and lotus forms long favoured by karigars working in Jaipur's ateliers. Black and brown stones are set within the petals, their tonal depth doing the work that colour alone cannot: grounding the composition, lending it a quality closer to antique than ornamental. The weight of thirty-two grams is felt pleasurably at the lobe, a reassurance of substance. At roughly four and a half centimetres tall and four and a third centimetres wide, the earring fills the frame of the face with intention, not excess. Worn with a deep ochre or rust-toned chanderi kurta, these earrings need nothing more. For evening, pair them with a black silk blouse and a statement silk sari in ivory or gold tissue; the dark stones will pull the whole look into a single quiet register. The standard stud closure keeps wear effortless across a long day, whether the occasion is a family lunch or a cultural evening. Brass worn regularly develops a warmth that newer metals cannot replicate, and this piece is sized to be noticed each time it is chosen.
