Description

There is a particular kind of jewellery that does not announce itself; it simply arrives. This floral Kundan stud earring is set in warm-toned brass, its central bloom built up in the classic flat-set Kundan manner: glass stones pressed into a bed of refined lac, each petal outlined with precision so the composition holds its shape whether seen close or across a room. From the stud, two fine chains fall in a gentle arc toward the ear's upper cartilage, creating the kaan chain silhouette that Rajasthani goldsmiths have long favoured for its theatrical yet intimate drama. The tradition belongs most naturally to Jaipur, where brass-base pieces have carried Kundan work for generations of karkhana craftsmen who understood that a modest metal, properly worked, could hold a regal setting. The piece weighs 25 grams in total and spans a substantial 6.75 inches (17.15 cm) along its chain length, with the stud face measuring 1.50 inches (3.81 cm) in height. Wear this with a silk chanderi kurta for a festive afternoon, where the chain catches light at the temple and jaw. It reads equally well against the deep border of a Banarasi saree at an evening gathering, giving the profile a considered, unhurried elegance. One size suits most ear configurations. The stud post fastens securely with a standard butterfly fitting, and the brass base keeps the piece light enough for several hours of comfortable wear without fatigue.
