Description

There are flowers that bloom only in gold, and this choker carries a whole garden of them. Rooted in the Kundan tradition that Jaipur's karigars have perfected over centuries, this choker set is built on a brass base worked into a broad, floral lattice. Each bloom is set in the flat-foil Kundan manner, with polished stones held in place by refined gold-toned wax and fine metal borders, allowing the light to travel through rather than merely reflect off. The teardrop stones anchor the lower edge of the composition, drawing the eye downward in the way that the finest Rajasthani bridal pieces have always done. At eleven inches long and four and a half inches wide at its broadest point (approximately 28 cm by 12 cm), the choker sits high and full on the collarbone. Matching drop earrings, measuring roughly 4.5 cm tall and 2 cm wide, complete the parure. The set weighs 62 grams, a presence that registers without strain. Wear this with a deep-bordered Kanjivaram at a winter wedding, where the brass and stone catch candlelight across a mandap. It reads equally well against a raw-silk anarkali in ivory or burgundy for a festive evening gathering. The chain is adjustable, making the fit accommodating across necklines. The brass base is durable for occasional wear and responds well to gentle wiping with a dry, soft cloth after each use.
