Description

There are flowers that bloom only in gold light, and these are among them. The art of Kundan setting is one of the oldest confidences between a craftsman and a stone. In this tradition, refined wax is pressed beneath each gem, and a fine border of gold-foil (here rendered in polished brass) is burnished around it until the stone appears to float rather than sit. This pair follows that grammar faithfully: a full floral face, petals radiating outward from a central stone, the surrounding field packed densely with smaller Kundan-set stones in cool, clear tones. Below the main bloom, stone drops hang freely, adding quiet movement at the jaw. At nearly ten centimetres tall (3.75 inches) and just over three centimetres wide (1.25 inches), the silhouette is generous without becoming theatrical. The brass base keeps the total weight at a considered fifty-one grams, close to the body, never pulling at the lobe. Wear them with a Benarasi or Chanderi silk for a wedding festivity where the light shifts and the drops catch it; or let them do the work entirely over a plain ivory kurta at a daytime celebration where simplicity is the real luxury. The free-size post-and-drop construction sits flat against the ear, the floral face resting level. Brass holds its finish well with gentle care, and the Kundan stones, seated firmly in their foil beds, ask only to be kept away from water and stored flat.
