Description

There is a particular kind of quiet confidence that only a floral earring, made properly, ever achieves. These Polki-studded earrings are worked in brass, a metal long favoured by artisans in Rajasthan for its warmth and its willingness to hold intricate settings without apology. Each piece is built around a full floral bloom, its petals arranged with the deliberate geometry of Jaipur's bazaar workshops, where flat uncut Polki stones are set face-up in open collet settings so that every sliver of light passes directly through the stone rather than bouncing off a faceted surface. The result is a lustre that is quietly luminous rather than loud. Below the central bloom, green bead drops introduce a thread of colour that calls to mind the garden imagery woven through Mughal jewellery traditions. The proportions are considered: each earring measures approximately 1.05 inches by 1.05 inches, or roughly 2.7 centimetres by 2.7 centimetres, and the pair weighs 65 grams altogether, giving them a presence on the ear without becoming burdensome. Wear them with a soft silk kurta in ivory or blush at a daytime festivity, where the green drops will pick up any embroidered foliage nearby. For an evening mehendi or engagement gathering, pair them with a printed georgette saree and let the Polki do the work of jewellery without any competition. These are free-size earrings, secured in the standard manner. The brass is finished to a warm, even tone that wears reliably with regular use and benefits from occasional gentle polishing.
