Description
There are gardens that bloom only in brass and uncut stone, and this is one of them. The hasli is one of India's oldest neckpiece silhouettes, a rigid crescent that sits proud on the collarbone, and here it is reinterpreted in brass with the warmth and democratic spirit of Rajasthani folk jewellery. Polki, the tradition of setting uncut, flat-faceted stones in an open-back mount so that light passes through rather than bouncing off, gives each floral motif its characteristic soft luminosity. The stones are arranged in repeating floral clusters across the arc of the necklace, a pattern that recalls the phool buti work favoured in Jaipur's busy karigar lanes. Matching earrings, measuring approximately 2.5 cm in height and 1.5 cm in width, echo the same floral vocabulary in miniature. The set is offered in deep emerald green and a rich red, both colours carrying a long tradition in Rajasthani festive ornament. Total weight is a wearable fifty grams. The necklace pairs beautifully with a silk chanderi kurta in ivory for a Diwali gathering, or anchors a simple cotton mul mul saree for a sangeet where you wish to dress with intention rather than excess. The necklace fastens on an adjustable dori, spanning approximately 16.25 cm in length and 8.1 cm in width, so it sits well on a range of neck sizes. Brass is finished to resist tarnish in everyday wear, and the set requires only a soft dry cloth to maintain its burnish.
