Description

There are crescents that hold the moon, and crescents that hold a garden entire. This pair traces a floral crescent in brass silver alloy, its arc populated with nine navratna stones arranged in the classical sequence that honours each celestial body: ruby, pearl, coral, emerald, topaz, diamond simulant, sapphire, cat's eye and hessonite. The setting follows a lacquer-backed technique, where coloured resin fills and stabilises each cavity from beneath, lending the stones a depth that polished metal alone cannot achieve. Bead drops hang from the lower curve, swaying with the easy rhythm of chandelier work rooted in Rajasthani jewellery traditions where weight and movement are considered equally essential to a piece's character. The brass silver alloy base keeps the piece accessible without compromising the richness of the surface. At 2.5 inches in height and 1.1 inches in width (approximately 6.4 cm by 2.8 cm), these earrings carry presence without overwhelming the face. Wear them with a silk chanderi kurta for a weekday celebration, or let them anchor a handloom Banarasi sari at a festival gathering where jewellery is expected to carry its own conversation. Weighing 37 grams for the pair, the drop is substantial but not punishing. The standard hook closure suits most ear piercings and allows the crescent to lie flat against the neck. The lacquer backing protects the stones from daily contact, making these earrings a reliable companion across seasons.
