Description

There are crescents that map the sky, and then there are those that frame a face like a verse half-remembered. This long Kundan chandelier reaches nearly five inches in drop (approximately 11.9 cm) and spans one and a half inches across (approximately 3.8 cm), its crescent silhouette blooming outward in a layered arrangement of floral clusters. Each blossom is set in the Kundan manner: foiled cavities packed with flat-cut stones and rimmed with refined gold-toned brass, the whole frame worked with the patience that Jaipur's goldsmithing tradition demands. From the lower tier, strands of deep green beads fall freely, their colour referencing the jadau jeweller's love of contrast between warm metal and cool stone. At 77 grams, the piece carries a satisfying presence without pulling uncomfortably at the ear. For a Banarasi silk sari in ivory or ochre, these earrings offer exactly the anchor of colour a rich weave requires. At a mehendi or sangeet, paired with a chanderi kurta and a high bun, they become the event's quiet centrepiece, needing nothing else at the neck. The brass base holds its gold tone well against Indian weather and humidity, and the free-size fittings suit most ear piercings without adjustment. Given the drop length, wearing the hair pinned back allows the full crescent and bead fringe to read as intended, doing full justice to the karigar's considered proportion.
