Description

There is a quietness to silver that gold never quite achieves. This necklace set works entirely in sterling silver, drawing on the filigree tradition that once flourished in the workshops of Cuttack and Karimnagar, where karigar hands coax fine wire into lace-like lattices without the aid of a mould. Here, that discipline is given a contemporary heart-shaped pendant measuring 1.7 inches (4.3 cm) in length and 1 inch (2.5 cm) in width. The openwork construction catches light through its negative spaces rather than from any stone, relying entirely on the architecture of the wire itself. The full set weighs 28 grams, a reassuring heft that speaks to the integrity of the sterling silver used throughout. Matching earrings, 0.7 inches (1.8 cm) tall and 0.5 inches (1.3 cm) wide, repeat the motif at a smaller scale, completing the composition without overwhelming it. Worn against a cream or ivory kurta, this set brings delicate structure to understated dressing.
