Description

There is a particular audacity to red, especially when it crowds the throat in rows of cut glass that refuse to be ignored. This choker belongs to a lineage of costume jewellery long beloved in Rajasthani bazaars and Bengali bridal trousseau boxes alike, where copper alloy was transformed by skilled hands into something that reads, from any distance, as ceremonial gold. The base metal here is copper alloy, worked into a structured choker and set with faceted cut glass stones in a deep faux-ruby red. The cutting of the glass matters: each facet is angled to catch available light and scatter it, mimicking the behaviour of natural rubies without any pretence of being them. The silhouette is close and collarbone-skimming, the setting likely channel or prong-style to hold the glass securely, and the finish carries that warm honey tone copper alloy achieves at its best. An adjustable cord at the back gives the piece its flexibility. Wear it with a silk kurta in ivory or forest green and let the red do all the talking. It sits equally well over a strapless blouse with a cotton saree for a festive evening that asks for drama without formality. The choker measures 9 inches, approximately 23 centimetres, with an adjustable cord for a comfortable fit across different neck sizes. At 22 grams it rests lightly and is free size. The copper alloy construction makes it practical for regular festive wear.
