Description

There is a quietness to pearl jewellery that has never gone out of fashion. These drop earrings draw from the long Indian tradition of faux-pearl adornment, a practice as old as the Mughal courts where simulated pearls in gilded settings were worn without apology alongside the real. Here, a copper-alloy base is finished in a warm gold tone, cradling glass faux pearls that carry the soft, diffused lustre of nacre without its weight or fragility. The silhouette is a classic graduated drop: a smaller pearl or floral cluster at the post, descending to a larger round pearl drop below, the whole proportion deliberate and unhurried. At two inches (approximately 5 cm) in height and ten grams in weight, the earring has genuine presence without pulling at the lobe. The craft belongs to the broader tradition of fashion jewellery produced across workshops in Jaipur and Delhi, where copper alloy is worked into forms that echo fine Polki and Kundan aesthetics at an everyday price. They wear beautifully with a soft ivory or blush kurta in chanderi or mul cotton, the pearl tones reading as effortlessly festive. For cooler occasions, pair them with a deep teal or burgundy silk blouse and a drape; the warm gold setting holds its own against jewel-toned textiles. The post-and-push-back closure sits securely through the day. Free-sized and undemanding, these earrings move from morning to evening without any need for adjustment.
