Description
There are stones that carry the earth's argument with itself, and ruby zoisite is one of them. Each bead in this strand is faceted from natural ruby zoisite, that vivid mineral marriage of crimson ruby crystals locked within a ground of deep forest green. The faceting is precise and deliberate: flat planes cut to catch and scatter light, so the green depths shift and the ruby inclusions glow like embers set into jade. At approximately six millimetres across and averaging thirty-seven beads per strand, each piece is a small box of colour in itself, which is exactly what the name honours. This is not a polished, opaque bead; it is a windowed one, and the difference matters enormously. The strand draws from a lapidary tradition that values the raw drama of the stone over any applied ornament, letting geology do what no karigar's chisel could improve upon. Wear this strand against a cream Chanderi silk kurta for a meeting where you wish to be quietly extraordinary, or layer it with a block-printed cotton dress for an afternoon that calls for earthy, unforced colour. The green reads as grounding; the ruby reads as alive. The string measures eight inches (approximately twenty centimetres), making this a close-sitting piece suited to most necklines. At twenty grams, it is light enough to forget you are wearing it. The strand is free-sized and needs no clasp adjustment, simply slipping on and settling naturally against the collarbone.
