Description

There is a particular green that belongs only to tourmaline: cool, saturated, faintly electric, as though the stone has held a monsoon sky inside itself for centuries. Each bead in this strand has been hand-faceted, the cutting coaxing light from every angled plane so that the necklace shifts from forest to sea-glass depending on how it catches the afternoon. Tourmaline of this clarity and depth has long been prized by stone-setters across Jaipur's gem quarter, where lapidaries spend generations learning how the wheel must meet the mineral at precisely the right pressure. Here, the stones are not set in metal at all but strung in their natural form, thirty-one briolettes averaging four millimetres each, the faceting doing the work that gold or silver might otherwise do. The result is quietly confident, as a well-cut stone always is. Wear this eight-inch strand (approximately 20 cm) against the collarbone with a fine ivory or cream silk kurta for an evening at the gallery or a winter wedding lunch. It sits equally well beneath the open neck of a linen blazer, offering a single point of quiet colour against muted neutrals. Free-sized and strung to a standard eight-inch length, the necklace sits at the base of the throat with ease. The bead string is light enough for a full day's wear without strain, and the compact bead size means it lies flat and smooth, never catching on fabric.
