Description

There is a particular honesty to garnet: no artifice, just depth. These drop earrings are built around faceted pyrope garnets, each stone cut to catch light across its many planes and set in sterling silver that has been worked to a clean, unfussy finish. The deep burgundy-red of the garnets sits naturally against the cool grey of the silver, a pairing that needs no gilding. Faceting of this kind, where the stone itself is asked to perform, belongs to a long tradition of silver jewellery from Rajasthan, where karigars have long understood that certain stones, honest and vivid, ask only for a precise bezel or prong to hold them. At eleven grams, the earrings carry a pleasing presence without pulling at the lobe. Each piece measures approximately five centimetres in height, giving them a true drop silhouette. They wear beautifully against an ivory cotton kurta for a winter afternoon, the garnets reading almost like embers. For evening, pair them with a deep teal or bottle-green silk and they become something richer, almost ceremonial without trying. Sterling silver is practical in ways that plated finishes are not: it responds well to a soft cloth and ages with character rather than flaking. These are free-size drop earrings, closed with a standard ear wire, suitable for pierced ears. They are light enough for a full day's wear and composed enough to hold their own across many wardrobes.
