Description

There is something quietly ancient about garnet: a stone that has travelled trade routes, adorned temple doors, and rested against the skin of queens. These faceted garnet beads arrive as a set of ten pieces, each cut to a generous 0.8 inch (approximately 2 cm) in diameter, shaped to resemble the rounded fullness of a chewing gum bead. The deep, wine-red of natural garnet catches light at every facet, shifting between burgundy and a warm, almost russet crimson depending on the hour. Garnet has long been worked by lapidaries in Jaipur, where the cutting of coloured stones is a generational discipline passed down through families who read light in rough rock. These beads, weighing a collective 26.6 grams, carry that same unhurried attention: smooth where they should be smooth, and brilliant where the faceting opens the stone to the eye. Thread them onto a fine silk cord for a layered, knotted necklace to wear with a raw-silk kurta in ivory or sage. Equally, string them alongside uncut Polki pendants for a mixed-craft neckpiece that suits a festive Puja gathering or a winter wedding. At free size, the beads offer complete flexibility: the buyer determines length, layering and spacing according to personal preference. Their rounded form sits comfortably at the collarbone or lower, with no sharp edges and a weight that is present but never heavy.
