Description

There are stones that hold light the way still water holds the sky. Ethiopian opal has long been prized for its rolling, unpredictable play of colour, and here it is cut into a faceted form that disciplines that wildness into something wearable and quietly arresting. Each stone is set in sterling silver, a metal with its own honest character, cool to the touch and bright without pretension. The faceting catches ambient light at every angle, drawing out the opal's signature flash of blue, amber and rose. Unlike the cabochon cuts more common in Indian silver traditions, the faceted silhouette here leans towards a contemporary sensibility while remaining entirely hand-finishable at the bench. The stud closure keeps the design flush and secure, letting the stone speak without distraction. At 3.58 grams the pair sits featherlight on the lobe. These earrings move easily between registers. Wear them with a fine Chanderi kurta in dove grey for a lunch where understated elegance matters; or pair them with a relaxed linen shirt and minimal gold bangles on a weekday afternoon when you want one quiet thing of beauty about you. Each stud measures approximately 1.9 centimetres in height and 0.75 centimetres in width, proportions refined enough for everyday wear without disappearing. The sterling silver is finished to a smooth polish that resists dulling through regular use. The post-and-butterfly closure sits flat at the back, making these as comfortable for a long day as they are for an evening occasion.
