Description

There is a quietness to pale blue that no other colour quite possesses. Blue chalcedony has long been prized across the Indian subcontinent for its waxy translucence and its ability to hold light without demanding attention. Here, the stone is cut into faceted beads, each one catching the light at a slightly different angle, so the bracelet reads as a continuous ripple rather than a series of separate pieces. The setting is sterling silver, its cool grey tone an ideal complement to the stone's misty, almost aqueous blue. The beads are strung and finished with a sterling silver clasp, the whole piece weighing a measured ten grams and extending to seven inches, approximately 17.8 centimetres, across the wrist. It is free-sized in the way only a beaded bracelet can be, adapting with quiet grace to the wrist it rests upon. Worn against a hand-block-printed cotton kurta in ivory or grey, this bracelet asks nothing more of the outfit than it already gives. It is equally at ease slipped onto the wrist alongside a silk sari blouse in powder blue or dusty rose for a daytime wedding or a festival lunch, where restraint reads as confidence. The sterling silver components are durable and low-maintenance. At ten grams, the bracelet sits close to the wrist without weight. The clasp is secure for all-day wear. It suits both narrow and medium wrists at its standard seven-inch length.
