Description

There is a particular quality of light that lives inside aqua chalcedony, neither quite blue nor quite green, but the colour of a coastal morning held still in stone. Each bead in this strand has been faceted by hand, its many-angled surfaces catching and diffusing light with the gentle restraint that characterises chalcedony at its finest. The stone itself belongs to the quartz family, revered across Indian lapidary traditions for its translucency and its soothing, watery depth of colour. Beads of this scale, averaging approximately 2.16 centimetres (0.85 inch) across, require careful calibration to ensure uniformity of cut and proportion. Strung in groups of five per strand on a four-inch string, they are intended as raw material for the discerning maker or jeweller, though they carry their own quiet completeness. The total weight of 20.4 grams speaks to their generous, substantial presence. Worn as a finished necklace, these beads pair beautifully with a handwoven ivory Chanderi kurta for a curated daytime gathering, or layered over a pale silk sari blouse at an intimate evening event where understatement is the true elegance. Free-sized and adaptable, this strand accommodates a range of design intentions. The faceted finish is smooth against the skin, the stone naturally cool to the touch, and the colour holds its integrity in both natural and artificial light, making it a reliable foundation for heirloom-quality bead work.
