Description

Worn on the wrist like a quiet prayer, this bala carries the unhurried hand of the Nepali silversmith. Hammered and then engraved with measured precision, the bala follows the ancient tradition of repoussé-adjacent surface work that Nepali artisans have practised for centuries, channelling motifs drawn from temple iconography and hill-country ornament. Pure silver, cool and unalloyed, is the only metal here: no gilding, no plating, nothing to diminish the material's honest lustre. The cuff sits at two inches in width and two inches in length (approximately 5 cm by 5 cm), with a height of just 0.25 inch (roughly 0.6 cm), keeping the profile low and the engraved surface the singular point of attention. At 23 grams, the weight is perceptible but never burdensome, the silver carrying a lived, substantial quality that machine-finished pieces rarely achieve. Pair it with a cream silk kurta and minimal gold for a layered festive look, or wear it against a bare wrist with a cotton sari on a cooler winter morning, letting the engraving speak without competition. The free-size cuff construction means the bala can be gently adjusted to suit most wrists. Pure silver develops a soft patina with wear, deepening the engraved lines over time. A light buff with a silver cloth restores its original brightness whenever desired, making this a genuinely long-lived everyday piece.
