Description

There are prayers that do not need words, only form. This lapel pin renders the Shaiva cosmos in a single, contained composition: the Tripundra's three horizontal lines, the Trishul rising through them, Nandi in devotional attendance, and a Rudraksha bead completing the sacred grammar. Cast in brass and finished in a warm, oxidised patina that gives each raised contour its due shadow, the piece carries the weight of iconographic conviction. Brass has long been the metal of temple precincts across India, from the smoke-darkened shrines of Varanasi to the coastal sanctuaries of Nagercoil, and its earthy lustre here is entirely deliberate. At 2.85 inches tall and 0.75 inches wide (roughly 7.2 cm by 1.9 cm), the silhouette is tall rather than broad, commanding without being theatrical. The piece weighs just under 11 grams, so it sits with quiet authority rather than pulling at the fabric. Wear it pinned to the left lapel of a raw-silk bandhgala at a religious ceremony or cultural gathering. It reads equally well on the collar of a structured linen kurta at a Navratri or Mahashivratri function, where the iconography carries personal meaning as much as aesthetic intention. A standard pin-back closure makes it secure on most woven fabrics without damaging the weave. The oxidised brass requires no special care beyond occasional wiping; it is designed to deepen in character with use, not resist it.
