Description

Still hands, open palms, the whole universe held in a gesture. The Dhyana Mudra is among the oldest postures in meditative iconography, the hands resting one upon the other, thumbs gently touching, signalling inward stillness and the dissolution of restlessness. This lapel pin renders that gesture through a figured brass silhouette of the seated Buddha, cast with quiet fidelity to its devotional source. Brass, the metal of temple bells and ritual lamps across India, lends the piece a warm, antique-gold tone that deepens with handling. At three inches tall and just under an inch wide (approximately 7.6 cm by 2 cm), the form is slender and upright, readable without being imposing. Weighing only 9.6 grams, it carries with barely any burden on the lapel, the collar or a draped pallu. The pin fastening at the reverse is sturdy and flat-lying, designed to sit flush against fabric without puckering. Wear it pinned to the left lapel of a handloom linen bandhgala at a cultural evening, where its meditative silhouette becomes a quiet conversation. On simpler days, fix it to the neckline fold of a Chanderi dupatta over a cotton kurta, letting it read as considered personal adornment rather than ornament. The free-size pin fastening suits most fabric weights, from dense wool to fine silk. Brass develops a gentle patina over time; a soft dry cloth is all the care it asks. A considered piece for those who wear meaning lightly.
