Description

There are necklaces that announce themselves, and there are those that hold court in silence. This Kundan set belongs to the second order. Worked in brass and finished to carry the warm, muted glow that skilled Jaipur artisans coax from base-metal Kundan, the necklace presents a broad, architecturally scaled breastplate: seven inches in length and just under four inches at its widest (approximately 17.8 cm by 9.4 cm), commanding enough to read across a ceremony-lit room. Foiled glass stones, set in the flat-pressed Kundan manner, sit within precisely shaped compartments, each one edged in smooth metal that catches light without flaring. The colour palette is as pictured, cohesive and deliberate. The matching earrings, measuring 1.5 by 0.8 inches (approximately 3.8 cm by 2 cm), mirror the necklace's language in miniature. The full set weighs 60 grams, substantial yet wearable. The necklace closes with an adjustable dori, which is the traditional cord closure that allows the wearer to raise or lower the drop precisely. Pair it with a heavily embroidered Banarasi silk at a winter wedding, or let it anchor an otherwise spare ivory chanderi at a mehendi afternoon. Either way, it does the work your dupatta cannot.
