Description
There is a certain grammar to Polki that has always known how to hold a room. Rooted in the Mughal-era tradition that flourished across the ateliers of Jaipur, this brass necklace and earrings set is set with uncut Polki stones, each facet left in its natural, unfaceted state so that the light is caught rather than commanded. The setting follows the close, intimate style of Kundan-influenced work, where the stones are pressed and secured within raised metal beds, creating a surface that is at once flat and alive. Brass, warmed to a deep gold tone, forms the structural body of the set, lending it a satisfying heft of seventy-five grams without any sense of excess. The necklace measures approximately twenty-one centimetres in length with an adjustable chain, and the drop earrings measure roughly five centimetres in height and two centimetres in width, proportions that are generous but never theatrical. Wear this set with a deep-toned silk tissue kurta at a festival evening or alongside a hand-woven Banarasi sari at a winter wedding reception, where the warmth of the brass and the soft scatter of the Polki will read beautifully under candlelight and chandeliers alike. The adjustable chain means the necklace sits well across varied necklines. The earrings are appropriately scaled for long wear through a full ceremony day, and the brass construction ensures the set remains light enough to carry with ease.
