Description

There are silhouettes that do not merely ornament the throat; they reframe the entire face. This choker is composed in the Kundan tradition, the gem-setting art that reached its fullest expression in the royal ateliers of Jaipur, where molten lac is packed beneath foil-backed stones and the gold-toned brass surround is burnished to a warm, ceremonial finish. The set presented here reads as a structured panel choker, its surface tiled with flat-set Kundan stones arranged in repeating floral and geometric registers characteristic of classical Rajasthani work. Suspended from the lower edge are bead drops that move with the wearer, lending a gentle kinetic quality the craft calls for. The accompanying maang tikka mirrors the central motif precisely, descending 5.2 inches (13.2 cm) from its crown fitting and spanning 1.4 inches (3.6 cm) at its widest point. The full set weighs 145 grams, a reassuring solidity that speaks to the density of the metalwork beneath. Worn over a deep-toned Benarasi silk sari at a winter wedding, this choker holds the light beautifully through the evening. For a more intimate celebration, pair it against an ivory or blush anarkali and let the maang tikka carry the statement alone. The necklace measures 4.3 inches (10.9 cm) in length and 4 inches (10.2 cm) across, and closes with an adjustable dori cord to accommodate different neck sizes without alteration. The brass base keeps the overall weight manageable across a long occasion.
