Description
The chandelier and the crescent, together again, as they have always been. Chandbali earrings carry the memory of Mughal courts in their very silhouette, and this Kundan-set pair honours that lineage with careful hands. The crescent-shaped frame is worked in brass, its face dressed in flat-set Kundan stones arranged in the characteristic foiled-paste tradition, where each stone is pressed into a gold-coloured bezel of burnished metal and held by fine Kundan work rather than prongs. Below the crescent body, a cascade of pearl drops and deep red bead drops descends in graduated strands, the ivory of the pearls reading against the red with the particular warmth that Rajasthani jewellers, especially those trained in the Jaipur tradition, have long understood. The brass base is finished to a warm gold tone, giving the piece a richness that belies its accessible price point of Rs 9,785. Wear these with a silk chanderi kurta in ivory or deep wine for a festive afternoon, or let them do the work against a simple georgette saree blouse at a wedding sangeet. The red drops read beautifully against both pale and saturated fabrics. Each earring measures approximately 4.05 inches (10.3 cm) in height and 1.95 inches (5 cm) in width, making the drop presence generous and legible across a room. At 70 grams for the pair, the weight is substantial; a secure closure keeps them settled through an evening of celebration.
