Description

The shankha has sounded at temple thresholds for millennia; here, it encircles the wrist. Rendered in sterling silver and finished in two quiet tones, cream and sky blue, this bracelet centres on the conch shell, one of the Ashtamangala, a symbol of auspicious beginning and sacred sound. The conch form is shaped with deliberate relief, its spiral contour caught in silver that weighs just 4.5 grams, light enough to forget you are wearing it yet present enough to be noticed. Sterling silver, with its cool lustre and honest weight, has long been the metal of devotional jewellery across South India, from the temple towns of Nagercoil to the silver-working lanes of Cuttack, where artisans press sacred motifs into sheets and forms by hand. The two colour finishes suggest either an unadorned, polished surface or a softly enamelled inlay, recalling the tradition of applying colour to silver in devotional pieces without the complexity of full Meenakari work. Wear the cream finish with an ivory cotton kurta at a morning puja or a quiet family gathering. The sky blue reads beautifully against indigo or grey linen for a cultural evening or museum visit. The bracelet measures approximately 1.4 cm in height and 12.7 cm in length and is offered in a single free size that suits most wrists comfortably. Sterling silver is durable for daily wear; store it away from moisture to preserve its finish.
