Description

There are textiles that carry an entire loom's memory in every thread, and this necklace set is one of them. Sambalpuri fabric, woven in the ikat tradition of Odisha's Sambalpur district, is known for its hand-tied resist-dyeing, where colour and pattern are bound into the yarn before the shuttle moves at all. Here, that same cloth, rich with the geometric and floral motifs characteristic of the weave, is shaped into a structured necklace and a pair of earrings, each form cut and mounted on MDF to hold its silhouette cleanly. The deep black ground makes the traditional Sambalpuri patterning read with quiet authority. The necklace runs nineteen inches in total length including its adjustable extension, with a front end piece of ten inches (approximately 25 cm), keeping it comfortably at the collarbone. The earrings measure one inch by one inch (roughly 2.5 cm by 2.5 cm), compact enough to sit without weight. For daywear, this set pairs beautifully with a handwoven cotton kurta in ivory or deep rust, letting two textile traditions speak to each other. For an evening gathering, wear it with a black Chanderi silk blouse and let the necklace become the single, deliberate statement.
