Description

There is something quietly formidable about silver that has travelled down from Nepal. This cuff bracelet is shaped from sterling silver into a broad, open arc, its surface carrying the unhurried weight of a piece made to last. At its centre sits an oval-cut amethyst, deep violet against the cool oxidised silver, held in a raised bezel setting that frames the stone without overwhelming it. The cuff stands 1.2 inches (approximately 3 cm) in height, giving it a substantial presence on the wrist without tipping into excess. At 27 grams, the sterling silver has genuine heft, the kind that speaks of honest craft rather than hollow casting. Nepal has long maintained a tradition of bold silver work, often pairing it with coloured stones sourced from the Himalayan foothills, and this bracelet carries that unhurried, borderland sensibility. The finish is matte-brushed along the band with a polished edge, a restraint that lets the amethyst hold its own. Wear it against a handwoven tussar silk kurta at a festive lunch, where the violet stone picks up the warmth of natural dyes. For an evening occasion, it sits beautifully beside a draped georgette sari in deep burgundy or ink blue, the silver cool against the fabric's fluid fall. The open-cuff silhouette is adjustable, fitting a range of wrist sizes with a gentle press to shape. Sterling silver benefits from occasional polishing with a soft cloth; the amethyst needs no more than a light wipe to stay luminous.
