Description

There are bridal sets that announce themselves, and there are those that hold the room in a quiet spell. This choker and earring set with maang tikka belongs firmly to the second kind. Worked in brass and set entirely in American diamond stones, it draws from the grand tradition of Kundan-inspired bridal adornment without pretending to be anything other than what it is: a contemporary bridal parure built on the architecture of a classic. The stones are laid close and generous across the choker's wide panel, which measures 3.2 inches (approximately 8 cm) in length and 6.5 inches (approximately 16.5 cm) in width, and the white colourway gives the whole composition a cool, silvered brilliance. A matching maang tikka, 3.6 inches (approximately 9 cm) long, descends in the manner of a passa-inspired pendant along the centre parting, while the drop earrings, 3 inches (approximately 7.5 cm) in height, frame the face with considered proportion. The complete set weighs 265 g, its presence satisfying without being punishing. A sea green variant introduces polychrome energy reminiscent of Meenakari colour work.
