SaleBehind this piece
The dhoti and angavastram set belongs to one of the oldest living textile traditions on the subcontinent. Woven from pure cotton on pit looms, sets of this kind have dressed men for ritual, ceremony, and daily devotion across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka for centuries. The striped border, a detail of quiet authority, draws from the temple-town weaving aesthetic where colour carries meaning: auspicious, seasonal, and familial. Cotton dhotis of this construction breathe with the body, soften with each wash, and grow more graceful the longer they are worn.
How to style
For a temple visit or morning puja, drape the dhoti in the Madisaar or Pancha style and let the angavastram rest across one shoulder over a plain cotton jubba. For a wedding as a guest, pair the Honey Mustard or True Red colourway with a silk kurta in ivory and finish with Kolhapuri chappals in tan leather. For a more considered contemporary look, try the Silver or Twilight Blue against a linen half-sleeve shirt, left untucked, with simple silver kada on the wrist and pointed mojris in natural tan.
Fabric & care
Pure cotton of this weave requires a gentle hand. Wash separately in cold water for the first two washes to allow any excess colour to settle. Machine wash on a delicate cycle or hand wash with mild detergent; avoid wringing, which strains the border weave. Dry flat in shade to preserve the lustre of the stripe. Iron on a medium-hot setting while the fabric is still slightly damp for a clean drape. Store folded along the original crease lines in a cool, dry drawer, away from direct light.
