Description

There are naths that announce themselves, and there are naths that simply belong. This teardrop Kundan nose ring works in the quiet, exacting language of Rajasthani adornment. The silhouette is a gentle teardrop, no wider than half an inch (approximately 1.3 cm) and barely three-quarters of an inch tall (approximately 1.8 cm), its outline set with Kundan-worked glass stones pressed into polished brass with the same patience the tradition has always demanded. Kundan, at its essence, is the art of embedding stones into a gold foil setting, and here that sensibility is translated into brass, making the technique accessible without abandoning its formal elegance. A drop pearl anchors the base, its cool lustre offering a counterpoint to the warm, burnished tone of the metal. The piece weighs a feather-light two grams, which is part of its intelligence. Wear it with a tissue silk kurta in ivory for a Sunday morning that asks nothing of you, or pin it on for a mehendi afternoon when you want ornament that reads as considered rather than costumed. It earns its place beside both restrained and layered looks. The nose ring is free-sized, designed to suit most piercings without adjustment. The brass is finished to resist tarnish under ordinary wear, and at two grams it sits without pulling at the nostril. A piece built for reach-for-it ease, morning after morning.
