Description

There are naths, and then there are naths that make a face into a poem. This Kundan nath is set in brass worked in the manner of Rajasthan's hereditary jewellers, its circular form measuring 1.4 inches high and 1.5 inches wide (approximately 3.6 cm by 3.8 cm), with a trailing chain of 6.6 inches (roughly 16.8 cm) that rests along the cheek and anchors at the ear. The centrepiece carries a flat-set Kundan arrangement, where stones are pressed into a lac-filled brass frame and foiled from beneath to intensify their colour. Four colour ways are offered: white for a cool, moonlit effect; red for the deep warmth of a bridal register; pink for something softer and more lyrical; and green evoking the viridian of ancient enamel traditions. The total weight is ten grams, substantial enough to feel intentional, light enough to wear with ease. Worn with a silk chanderi kurta for a mehendi celebration, the white version reads like a heirloom borrowed from an older generation. The red or green nath against a Banarasi weave at a festive gathering commands the room without effort, letting the face do the work the jewel begins. A free-size piece, it suits most, and the chain is long enough to loop comfortably to a variety of ear positions. Brass, when treated well, holds its warmth, and the Kundan setting here is secure and flush, requiring only a soft cloth to restore its glow.
