Description

There are deities who are not carved so much as summoned. Jagannath, the Lord of the Universe, has been venerated along the eastern coast of India for centuries, his stylised form, with those wide, luminous eyes and abbreviated limbs, unlike anything else in the Hindu iconographic canon. This pendant renders that sacred silhouette in sterling silver, a metal whose cool, bright surface carries a particular devotional weight in Bengali and Odishan silver-craft traditions. The form is cast and finished by hand, the characteristic circular face and simplified body reading with quiet authority at one and a half inches in height by one inch in width (approximately 3.8 cm by 2.5 cm). Weighing 8.3 grams, it sits with substance on the sternum, neither too heavy nor too slight. Wear it on a fine silver chain over a handloom cotton kurta for a weekday that deserves a quiet blessing, or layer it close against the neckline of a Chanderi silk sari blouse when you attend a puja or a family gathering where faith is woven into the occasion. The pendant arrives in free size, suited to any chain gauge you already favour. The sterling silver finish is polished to a gentle brightness that will age gracefully with wear, and the piece is practical enough for daily devotion without requiring elaborate care.
