Description

There are naths, and then there are naths that announce themselves before you enter the room. This polki-studded nath belongs to the latter kind. Worked in brass and finished to a warm, antique-adjacent glow, it carries the spirit of Rajasthani bridal jewellery without requiring a wedding to justify it. The uncut polki stones, set in the manner of traditional flat-foiled work, catch light the way only unfaceted stone can: softly, almost reluctantly, with a depth that polished diamonds rarely achieve. The circular frame, roughly three centimetres across, is composed with a density of setting that speaks to the patience of the craftsman rather than any hurry to fill space. A seven-point-one-inch (approximately eighteen-centimetre) chain trails from the ring to anchor at the hair or ear, completing the silhouette with a sweep that is unmistakably subcontinental in its intention. Wear it with a raw silk kurta in ivory or saffron for a festive afternoon, letting the chain rest against an undone braid. For a wedding reception, pair it with a heavily embroidered lehenga in deep reds or bottle greens and allow the nath to be, unapologetically, the centrepiece. At eleven grams across a free-size hoop measuring one-point-two inches (approximately three centimetres) in both height and width, the piece sits with a presence that reads effortful on the face but wears with genuine ease. The brass base ensures durability without the weight anxiety of heavier metals.
