Description
There are bridal sets that adorn a woman, and there are those that complete her. Rooted in the Kundan tradition that flourished in the courts of Rajasthan, this set is assembled in brass and set throughout with oval-cut Kundan stones, each one pressed and foiled in the classical manner to achieve that characteristic inner luminosity. The necklace spans a generous 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) across and falls 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) at its deepest point, the weight of its 380 grammes settling across the collarbone with the unhurried authority of ceremonial jewellery. Paired earrings, each 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) tall, connect to chains that graze the cheek. The Maang Tikka descends 4.2 inches (10.7 cm) along the centre parting, while the Matha Patti stretches a full 10.5 inches (26.7 cm) across the forehead. The Nath, 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) in diameter, trails a 7-inch (17.8 cm) chain, and the Hathphool, reaching 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) from wrist to finger ring, completes the ceremonial silhouette. Wear the full set at a Punjabi or Rajasthani wedding, paired with a crimson or ivory silk lehenga. For a mehendi or sangeet, the Hathphool and Nath alone, worn with a printed chanderi kurta, carry the spirit of the set with considered restraint. The necklace closes on an adjustable dori, accommodating varied necklines. Free size rings and standard settings ensure the ensemble suits most wearers without alteration.
