the story,

Behind this piece

Amritsar has long held a particular genius for zari work, its workshops threading gold and silver into cloth with an exactness that feels almost architectural. This dupatta belongs to that tradition: gota patti appliqué, the craft of cutting and stitching metallic ribbon into precise formations, here arranged as chakra motifs along the border. The chakra, a symbol of perpetual motion and cosmic order, lends the border a quiet ceremonial weight. Worked onto crepe, the zari catches light without overwhelming it, and the four colourways, from Lavender Frost to Zen Blue, carry the craft into a contemporary register.

to wear it,

How to style

Drape the Lavender Frost over an ivory chanderi kurta with narrow palazzo trousers for a Diwali gathering, and let the chakra border fall at the hem. The Zen Blue reads beautifully against a slate or indigo anarkali for a formal reception. For a daytime festive lunch, try Silver Pink with a nude georgette suit and kolhapuri flats. Silver jhumkas or a single kundan choker complement the zari without competing with it. Keep the silhouette clean so the border, which is the true focal point of this dupatta, receives the attention it has earned.

Fabric & care

Crepe responds poorly to machine agitation and high heat, so dry-cleaning is the safest first choice. If hand-washing, use cold water with a mild, pH-neutral detergent, and never wring or twist the fabric. Lay flat on a clean cotton towel to dry, away from direct sunlight, which can shift the delicate colourways over time. The gota patti zari should never be soaked, as prolonged moisture weakens the adhesive backing on the ribbon. Store loosely rolled in a muslin cloth rather than folded, to prevent permanent crease lines along the metallic borders.
