the story,

Behind this piece

Bandhani is among the oldest resist-dyeing traditions in the Indian subcontract, rooted in the Kutch and Saurashtra regions of Gujarat, where khatri artisans have practised the craft for centuries. The technique requires tying thousands of tiny fabric pinches with thread before immersion in dye, producing the signature constellation of dots that bloom across the cloth. This dupatta carries that grammar of dots across a rayon ground, rendered in three distinct colour fields: the deep berry warmth of Goji and Hibiscus meeting the cool depth of Rain Forest, each transition speaking of the dyer's precise sequencing.

to wear it,

How to style

Wear this dupatta draped over a cream or ivory straight-cut kurta in cotton or silk, allowing the Goji Berry and Hibiscus tones to lead. For festive occasions, layer it across an anarkali in forest green or deep plum and finish with silver oxidised earrings from Rajasthan. For casual outings, knot it loosely over a linen co-ord in off-white and pair with kolhapuri sandals. The Zinnia and Rhodonite tones respond particularly well to gold-toned jewellery, making this an easy companion to a silk blouse and tailored palazzo on an evening occasion.

Fabric & care

Rayon is a semi-synthetic fibre with a luminous drape but moderate tensile strength when wet. Hand-wash this dupatta in cold water using a mild, ph-neutral detergent, and avoid wringing or twisting the fabric. Rinse gently and press out excess water between two dry towels. Dry flat in shade, away from direct sunlight, which can fade the bandhani dyes over time. Iron on a low setting while slightly damp, on the reverse side. Store folded loosely in a muslin bag rather than compressed in a drawer to preserve the dye patterning and fabric body.
