the story,

Behind this piece

Banaras has woven light into fabric for centuries, and tissue sarees are perhaps its most luminous offering. Characterised by a translucent, gossamer hand, tissue weaving achieves its shimmer through a precise interlacing of warp and weft that catches and scatters light with every movement. This piece carries that legacy forward through an all-over geometric repeat, a pattern vocabulary rooted in the architectural motifs of Mughal-era Varanasi. Rendered here in art silk, the weave retains its characteristic crispness and surface brilliance, making it a considered homage to one of India's most enduring textile traditions.

to wear it,

How to style

For a formal evening gathering, pair the Windsor Wine or Deep Lake colourway with a sleeveless raw-silk blouse and antique gold Kundan earrings. A daytime festive occasion calls for the Raspberry Rose with a scallop-edged organza blouse and pale gold kolhapuris. The Taupe Gray reads beautifully as an understated wedding-guest choice: style it with a deep-neck brocade blouse in ivory and a single strand of South Sea pearls. In all three instances, keep the drape minimal and the pleats precise, allowing the geometric woven pattern to remain the visual centre of the look.

to last,

Fabric & care

Art silk is a cellulose-based fibre that responds poorly to heat and prolonged moisture. Dry-clean this saree to preserve the tissue weave's structure and surface luminosity. If hand-washing is unavoidable, use cool water with a small amount of mild, pH-neutral detergent; never wring or twist. Dry flat in shade, away from direct sunlight, which will fade the colour over time. Store folded in soft muslin, not plastic, and refold along different lines every few months to prevent permanent crease marks from setting into the delicate woven surface.

Each piece is hand-loomed by artisan clusters we work with directly across India. Small irregularities in the weave are the hallmark of handloom — not a defect.
