the story,

Behind this piece

Zardozi, the art of raising metal thread into sculptural form, traces its lineage to the royal ateliers of Mughal Lucknow and Delhi. These silver leaf patches carry that tradition forward in miniature: each motif worked in fine silver-toned metal wire and sequins against a fabric ground, demanding the same patient hand-counting that once adorned the robes of courtly India. The leaf form itself is among zardozi's oldest recurring motifs, a symbol drawn from garden imagery beloved by Mughal patrons. Six pieces arrive together, offering the artisan-minded shopper a set with genuine decorative purpose.

to wear it,

How to style

Stitch a pair of these patches at the hem corners of an ivory Lucknowi chikankari kurta for evening gatherings, letting the silver sequins catch candlelight. Placed at the neckline of a raw silk blouse, they transform a simple garment into occasion wear suited to a sangeet or festive luncheon. For contemporary styling, apply a single patch to the pocket of wide-legged silk trousers and finish with jhumkas in oxidised silver and block-heeled kolhapuris. The restrained palette allows the patches to complement champagne, ivory, deep teal, and burgundy with equal ease.

to last,

Fabric & care

Metal-thread embroidery requires handling with consistent gentleness. Do not machine wash or soak these patches. If attached to a garment, dry-clean the finished piece. Store patches flat, individually wrapped in acid-free tissue or soft cotton muslin, away from moisture and direct light, which can dull the silver finish over time. Avoid contact with perfume or hairspray, as chemical residue corrodes metal threads. Press only from the reverse side of the fabric using a cool iron, never directly on the sequins or wire work. Proper storage extends the life of the embroidery considerably.
