about the piece,

Description

Rajasthan speaks in processions, and this dress carries the whole pageant on its hem. Block-printed in the Sanganeri tradition of Jaipur's outskirts, each camel and elephant motif is hand-stamped onto pure cotton using the unhurried rhythms that have defined this craft for centuries. Sanganeri printing is known for its fine, repeat patterns and its characteristic white or pale ground, here rendered in a gentle peach that softens the graphic energy of the animals. The cotton itself is precisely what a summer dress ought to be: breathable, unassuming, and content to improve with every wash. Available in five colour combinations, each pairing the peach ground with a distinct accent, from the warmth of red to the quieter depth of marine and amparo blue, so the same silhouette can read festive or everyday depending entirely on your choosing. Made to order, this piece is sewn with attention rather than inventory. Wear it to a Sunday brunch with flat Kolhapuris and a cane basket, or layer a fine white cotton kurta beneath it for an evening that asks for a little more.

the story,

Behind this piece

Sanganeri printing originates in Sanganer, a town on the outskirts of Jaipur in Rajasthan, where artisans have practised hand block printing for over five centuries. The craft belongs to a tradition of chhipa communities who carve intricate wooden blocks and apply natural and synthetic pigments onto fabric with deliberate, rhythmic repetition. The camel and elephant motifs on this dress are among Sanganer's most beloved vocabularies, drawn from the desert landscape and royal processions of Rajputana. Printed on pure cotton, the peach ground keeps the warmth of the cloth, while the coloured motifs carry the eye across the weave.

to wear it,

How to style

For a day at a heritage market or a summer lunch, wear the Peach and Green colourway with tan leather kolhapuris and oxidised silver jhumkas. The Peach and Amparo reads beautifully against a twilight gathering; add a fine cotton dupatta in a solid indigo and silver toe rings for understated grace. The Peach and Red variant suits a festive afternoon, paired with block-printed juttis in a complementary tone and a single strand of polki. All colourways sit naturally with minimal gold, allowing the Sanganeri print to remain the centrepiece of the silhouette.

to last,

Fabric & care

Pure cotton benefits from a gentle cold-water hand wash or a delicate machine cycle. Use a mild, colour-safe detergent and avoid soaking for extended periods, as prolonged immersion can soften the printed pigments over time. Do not wring; press the water out gently and dry in shade away from direct sunlight, which can lift the peach ground unevenly. Iron on a medium setting while the fabric retains slight dampness, always on the reverse side. Store folded loosely in a cool, dry drawer, wrapped in muslin if kept for a season, to preserve both fibre and print.
