about the piece,

Description

Woven from the breath of the Himalayas, this scarf carries within it the quiet discipline of Nepalese pashmina craft. Spun from the fine undercoat of Changthangi goats grazed at altitude across the Tibetan plateau, pure pashmina is among the rarest natural fibres in the world, prized for a softness that deepens with every wearing. The all-over weave structure lends this piece a subtle, even texture that speaks to the precision of Kathmandu Valley artisans, who have refined their handling of this delicate yarn across generations. At 100 per cent pure pashmina, with no silk or wool blended in, the fabric breathes with exceptional warmth, making it as well suited to a cool monsoon evening as to a winter morning. The colourway spans from the oceanic calm of Aquamarine and the violet depth of Campanula to the uncompromising elegance of Caviar Black. Drape it loosely over the shoulders with a fine silk kurta for an evening gathering, or fold it as a wrap over a tailored coat when the temperature drops. Either way, it asks very little and offers a great deal.

the story,

Behind this piece

Pashmina originates in the high-altitude valleys of Nepal and Kashmir, where the Changthangi goat yields its undercoat at elevations above 14,000 feet. The fibre, finer than 16 microns, has been spun and woven by artisan communities across the Himalayan belt for centuries, finding favour in Mughal courts and European salons alike. This scarf carries that lineage in its all-over weave, a plain construction that demands exceptional yarn evenness and a steady hand on the loom. Nothing distracts from the fibre itself, and that restraint is precisely the point.

to wear it,

How to style

Drape Campanula or Aquamarine loosely over a crisp white kurta for a Diwali gathering, and let the colour speak without competition. On cooler evenings, fold Caviar Black lengthwise over a structured wool blazer and tailored trousers for an understated boardroom finish. Nine Iron pairs beautifully with raw-silk sarees in muted ivory or champagne, anchored by silver oxidised earrings and kolhapuri flats. Orange Peel, the boldest of the five, rewards a monochrome ensemble, particularly ivory or camel, and needs no additional jewellery to hold its ground.

to last,

Fabric & care

Hand-wash in cold water using a mild, pH-neutral detergent formulated for fine wools; never wring or twist the fabric. Support the full weight of the wet scarf when lifting it from the water. Roll it gently in a clean towel to remove excess moisture, then reshape and dry flat away from direct sunlight or heat. Store folded, not hung, to prevent distortion of the weave. A muslin or cotton bag protects against dust and moths; cedar blocks are preferable to chemical repellents. With respectful handling, pure Pashmina softens and improves over many years of wear.
