the story,

Behind this piece

In the forest villages of Madhya Pradesh, Adivasi women have long transformed scrap fabric into something ceremonial. This patchwork tradition draws on a practice of thrift made beautiful: offcuts of art silk, arranged by hand into geometric fields of colour, each seam a small decision. The dual-shade construction, where orange gives way to its cooler, deeper counterpart, is characteristic of this community's instinct for contrast. No two pieces are identical. What you receive is not a reproduction of a style but a direct record of hands at work in a specific place.

to wear it,

How to style

Wear this saree in a casual drape with a fitted ivory or burnt-sienna blouse in raw cotton, keeping the surface tension of the patchwork visible. For a festive occasion, pair it with a structured high-neck silk blouse in deep rust and oxidised silver cuff bangles from Rajasthan. The orange tones respond well to copper and amber toned jewellery rather than gold. Ground the look with kolhapuri sandals or block-heeled juttis in tan leather. This saree suits a daytime cultural event, a gallery opening, or a harvest-season family gathering where intention in dressing is understood.

to last,

Fabric & care

Art silk, a woven viscose fibre, requires handling with restraint. Hand-wash separately in cold water using a mild, pH-neutral detergent; never soak for longer than three minutes, as prolonged immersion weakens the weave and may cause the patchwork seams to pucker. Do not wring. Roll the saree gently in a dry cotton towel to remove excess water, then dry flat in shade. Iron on a low setting with a pressing cloth between iron and fabric. Store folded in soft muslin, away from direct light, to prevent the dual-tone colours from fading unevenly over time.

Each piece is hand-loomed by artisan clusters we work with directly across India. Small irregularities in the weave are the hallmark of handloom — not a defect.
